The members of the Skowhegan Woman’s Club are offering craft sessions for those interested in learning a new craft.

The sessions are free and open to the public, and are scheduled to be held downstairs in the conference room at the Skowhegan Free Public Library, 9 Elm St., according to a news release from Mary Cayford with the club.

Stained Glass Sailboat Sun Catcher with Billie Sherman is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Feb. 16 and 17. Materials and tools are provided for this two-session class to complete one project.

Learn to Crochet with Freda Toneatti is set for 1-3 p.m. on the following five Mondays: Feb. 13 and 27, March 6, 13 and 20. People should register for the entire series. Those who register will need one moderate, aluminum, crochet hook (H, I, J or K) and one skein of four-ply, light-colored yarn.

The library will provide yarn and hooks for participants to use there. Those who prefer can bring their own. Patterns and instructions also will be provided.

If it snows, this crochet class will be canceled, even if the library and area schools are open. If in doubt, call ahead to be sure this class is in session.Advertisement

Basic Cake Decorating with June Nickerson-Hovey is planned from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursdays, March 2 and 16. All ingredients and supplies are provided. There are two separate classes for two different groups.

Making Fairy Gardens with Billie Sherman is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, April 6; all materials are provided.

In addition to the instructors, Cathie Starbird will assist with some of the classes.

Those interested in any of these free offerings can call the library to register at 207-474-9072.

Space and materials are limited. If the class is full, those interested can leave their name and number to be put on a waiting list in case an additional class is made available. If the library and area schools are closed, the classes will be canceled.
